1986-1995

· ChildLine counselled 400,000 children on domestic abuse. 38% of these children said that they were being abused themselves.
· 40-70% of these were also being sexually abused.

1998 - 1999

· More than 574 children in Denbighshire alone were helped by Women's Aid.
· 3,185 children were living in refuge (a safe house) with Women's Aid.
· More than 3,000 children were also supported in the community through Women's Aid.
· We know that there are many more children are suffering and that this is a small number who have come forward.
· Women's Aid received 16,245 telephone calls from women who were suffering abuse violence throughout Wales.
· A great number of these women had children.
