Stories
and poems.
"I
am sitting on the top of the stairs listening to my
Mum and Dad arguing. My little sister is hiding in the
cupboard and keeps asking, why is Mum screaming? I go
and look through the keyhole and my Dad is threatening
my Mum with a knife. 'I shout stop! Stop Dad!' but he
hit me, I ran up-stairs and it went all quiet. A door
slams, I look out of the window, Dad's gone. 'Mum, Mum,
you're bleeding!' Then Mum says 'come on we are leaving,
pack your bag.'"
"I
can hear them arguing again, it's about me, but what
have I done... I can't stand sitting here. Everything
will seem better in the garden. I can still hear them
out here, but not the words. What was that it sounded
like something breaking? Should I go in? No, don't think
so. Has it stopped?"
"I
can hear them arguing at night when I am in bed. So
I get worried that someone is going to get hurt. I hear
my step-father shouting abuse at my Mum and I can't
get to sleep. The next day I go to school and I am falling
asleep and not concentrating on the work. I try to talk
to the teacher but I can't, so I have to live with it
until I can tell someone."
ALL
ABOUT ME
I
am in my room
I am scared
Nobody cares
All I hear is shouting
And screaming
Sitting on a chair
Staring at a photograph of me
Playing in a pool
Sunny, happy times.
I
am in my room
I am scared
Nobody cares
All I want is peace
I am getting all confused
Sitting on my bed
Staring out the window at
Friends and their families
Happy, laughing, smiling.
