SAFE RETURN
|
Posted Friday 08 February 2008 - 17:31:36 |
After a 2.30am wake-up call this morning, we were all very glad to see the school building on the horizon just after 1pm this afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many people waiting to welcome us home and certainly, there was much emotion as the children fell into parents' open arms!
Miss Williams has over 500 photos which will be available to all after half term and there is over 2 hours of video footage which can now be edited into a more reasonable length DVD! We will be in touch about an evening to get-together.
All children and staff now deserve a well-earned rest over half term and build back energy levels. All can feel extremely proud of their achievements this week. It was an honour to be part of the Frongoch family on tour!
TO ALL PUPILS AND PARENTS - SEE YOU ON TUESDAY 19TH FEBRUARY WHEN SCHOOL RESTARTS AFTER HALF-TERM

All skiing completed and bags being packed as I type. Children are getting excited about seeing you all. Have had a nice presentation evening and children have a badge to bring home to show off their achievements!
Breakfast at 4am so early night for us. Au revoir for now, will set the telephone tree in motion once have landed in Manchester.
Below find a group photo which we have managed to download. Unfortunately, the one with the scenery in the background will not work so will have to wait till our return.

WEDNESDAY
|
Posted Wednesday 06 February 2008 - 20:16:07 |
Well, another most enjoyable day and none of us can believe how fast the time is flying by. We were out on the slopes again by 9am even though there was rain in the village which was falling as snow higher up on the mountain.
All groups were busy for the 2 hours on green and blue slopes, again mastering chair lifts. Some great video footage for home viewing on our return!
One group went down to Pre-la-jou for an afternoon session of skiing and the other 2 groups have done some souvenir shopping, the children are definitely thinking of you all and buying small cadeaux! We've just munched our way through another 3 course meal (lasagne tonight) and the children are downstairs singing their Welsh roots proud in karaoke!! I'm told even the teachers have to join in, hence I'm up here typing!!
The hotel have offered to help us with downloading the photo later as we have had some difficulties with that so fingers crossed something will be up by later this evening.
Last day tomorrow and the other children will be skiing in the afternoon and shopping too. At the moment, the children seem to wondering how they convince parents to come back to join in skiing again!!
Will update before we leave, love from us all, Mrs Thackray
2 pictures of the scenery from the mountain top where we are skiing. Unfortunately, group photo unable to download at the moment despite numerous efforts! Will keep trying

Day 4
|
Posted Tuesday 05 February 2008 - 21:01:12 |
Good evening! Just walked in from our busiest day yet. Have spoken to Mrs. Robertson in the last half hour and I can assure you everything absolutely fine, no intention to worry you with later update.
All children on slopes today and button lifts - again the progress is remarkable and the confidence is growing. The top 2 groups managed a chair lift and some more challenging runs admirably. Weather was a lot clearer so managed to get a group photo which we will try to download if we can loan the hotel computer.
Went for a walk to Lake Vonnes and marvelled at icicles extraordinaire! Some shopping for small souvenirs and then back to the hotel for afternoon tea and a talent show.
Another three course meal and then straight out to the creperie, couldn't forget it was Shrove Tuesday.
The children are all now in pyjamas ready for bed - they are settling and sleeping well. I think this fresh air and exercise is helping this!!
Will update again tomorrow, it may well be after evening meal.

DAY 3 - MONDAY
|
Posted Monday 04 February 2008 - 13:29:56 |
Up again 7am and out on the slopes for 9am. Started snowing on the mountain which made conditions bit harder to see. 2 groups progressed to another slope and tackled some slaloms. They even finished the session with a blue run and some speed, controlled of course!
Still snowing this afternoon so some diary time and afternoon tea. Off bowling later and some games inside the hotel.

|
DAY 2 - Sunday
|
Posted Sunday 03 February 2008 - 16:41:48 |
Woke up to glorious sunshine and superb weather conditions for morning skiing. Up on the slopes by 9am and doing 100% better than yesterday - 2 groups moved onto green slopes and tackled button lifts. This resulted in some spectacular falls - but all safe and able to laugh watching the video back.
Been on the tourist train around the village and surrounding area this afternoon and children been able to use their French in the supermarket buying some drinks and sweets - very healthy!
Still behaving and smiling here - crystal maze challenge in the hotel tonight so it'll be Monday before we know it. Children have asked me to say hello to any parents reading this, they are doing you proud!

ARRIVED IN FRANCE!
|
Posted Saturday 02 February 2008 - 14:35:06 |
Long journey but arrived safely last night about 8.30pm. Bit of a bumpy flight but the children showed their appreciation by cheering the pilot on landing!
All ate well and kitted up and then fell into bed, very tired!
Up at 7am and breakfast of pain au chocolat, bread, cheese, ham, yoghurts, cereal, yum yum!!
Even better, was the amount of snow that fell during the night and was still snowing as we made our way to the gondola.
Children were fantastic sorting out their clothes and boots and were all up on the piste ready for the lesson.
All managed to get down the nursery slopes and onto a drag lift - very well done.
Been down to the end of the village to see the European Mogul championships and are now sitting back in the hotel writing diaries.
We have seen Mr. Davies and Finlay on the slopes and they are joining us later for evening meal.
Settling really well and children saying better than they expected so can't be far wrong eh?!
Write some more news tomorrow.

Congratulations to Cross Country Runners!
|
Posted Monday 28 January 2008 - 08:38:41 |

On Saturday 26th January, Mrs. Robertson left Denbigh with 7 pupils from Year 6, heading for the North Wales Cross Country Championships in Northop. The weather conditions were great and the course as challenging as ever, with many competitors from across all counties of North Wales. McCorley led the field for much of the race, finally coming second to a boy who is a club runner for Menai. All runners for Frongoch finished and were glad to see the finishing line! Well done you all and many thanks to the parents who supported the children and of course Mrs. Robertson and Mr. Seamarks for giving up their time.
