Visit to Ordsall Hall Posted Monday 03 December 2007 - 17:25:33
Class 3 and 5 are studying the Tudors this term and Mrs McLean arranged for both classes to visit a Tudor House in Salford, Manchester. We travelled back in time and were introduced to Mary a maidservant who showed us around the Great Hall and explained the differences between then and now. We also saw the Bedchamber and found that children slept underneath their parent's bed. We had our picnic lunch in the Great Hall and then the pupils had the opportunity to wear armour, handle bows (not arrows!!) and take part in a mock military parade. There was a last bit of fun as the pupils got to play on an indoor pirate ship . All the pupils were very well behaved and showed they were very knowledgable by answering questions. Thank you Mrs McLean for the trip.

Children In Need Day Posted Monday 19 November 2007 - 14:28:13
Today we were doing activities for Children In Need.
We had some great fun throwing wet sponges at our Welsh teacher, Mr. Hughes! We had a cake sale at Breaktime to aid us even further in our quest to raise funds for Children In Need.

The Photos Project Posted Thursday 23 August 2007 - 14:30:04
Here, in my time, today is the year 2058. And something is being sent from the future. Hello there. My name is Matthew Wilson and I’m sixty-five years old. And there’ll be happy memories coming back right now.
This guy called Peter Wallis told me about “The Photos Project” long ago. Now I will tell you now.
It was a soggy day in 2007, and they were out “singing in the rain”… as in, doing photography. The whole school went photographing on the streets of the one and only Denbigh with cameras because of a project that was started by Mr. Kevin Peter Stott and Miss Mair Owen themselves.
It was a rainy day and everybody, including Wallis, had rain coats on. There were digital cameras, disposable cameras, and even a badly conditioned Castle up on the hill that watched over Denbigh.
Several classes the school made up were taking pictures of landmarks. There was even a lamp post which was made of metal.
The Music Factory, which was demolished forty years ago to make way for a car retailer, was one of the photos taken by Wallis.
The best part was the castle. Authenticated in the 1280s by Morfa du Gwynedd, the castle was rebelled by Edward II in 1304. It is now a ruin.
The school first tried the cameras on-site in 2006, and they proved to be trusty. People were taken, walls were taken, and even trees were taken in this test.
Then they uploaded the images, turned them in black and white, and edited them to post onto the internet and print out. Look at an example below and then return to this writing.
That was the final result you were looking at.
That was all fifty-one years ago. Since then—Ooops, gotta go! See ya later. Bye!

The Phototgraphy project 2007 Posted Wednesday 09 May 2007 - 12:52:26
On the 18th of April, classes 9 and 10 were doing a photography project. We went to Denbigh town to take some photos, and we also went to Denbigh Castle. It was quite a fun trip out for all of us. The next day the people that had disposable camera's went back out to get the photos processed, while the ones that had digital camera's stayed at school, had a look at the photos that we all took, and printed them out. We also had a mess around with the photos on adobe photoshop and made them black and white and printed them off.

Here are some pictures that we took

Class 8 trip Posted Friday 04 May 2007 - 15:24:56
On May 3rd, Class 8 went on a trip as part of their work on the theme of 'Tourism - Good or Bad?'. The group took the minibus to Rhyl. They looked at many features of Rhyl, including The Children's Village and the newly built Drift Park on the promenade.

On the return trip, they visited Dyserth Waterfalls where they also enjoyed an ice lolly!

Website updates Posted Tuesday 01 May 2007 - 13:06:48
Visitors to the website over the last few months cannot fail to have noticed the lack of news or items. This has been due mainly to the departure of the following key contributors and website administrators; Gareth Williams, Jonathan Morgan and Viv Rickman. Our best wishes to you all and also to Christine Dooley and Carol Richards who have left during the same period, good luck for the future.
This has left myself as the only remaining website administrator and the pressure of organising the GCSE Applied Science course have left me with no time to look after the site, my apologies for this. I am currently looking to recruit some staff members to assist with this and so things should improve shortly. In the meantime please note that members should be able to submit articles and news items for inclusion on the website (including students and parents/guardians)

BIG ARTS WEEK Posted Friday 07 July 2006 - 13:27:40
This week has seen local Ceramic Artist Katie Scarlett Howard return to school to take part in this years BIG ARTS WEEK. She has once again given up her valuable time to share her expert skills with the children of Brondyffryn. They have been busy exploring the world of facial expressions and have created more than 140 clay faces! Katie will take the faces away to her studio for firing in the kiln and we hope they will return to school before the end of term for painting with ceramic oxide.

We'd like to thank Katie for the wonderful opportunities she continues to offer to our school.
